Our heart is in Romagna. And what does our mean? What we call us does not exist on its own – it is built. And these days, we are seeing it happen under our eyes.

Relatives, friends, colleagues, neighbours. We have seen countless people roll up their sleeves and get to work in response to the almost incomprehensible loss we are facing. And those who are unable to offer their arms share a piece of bread, a cloth or a smile.

Our heart has been wounded. But we are seeing it beat, and beat hard, to propel the effort it takes to heal the wound. To rebuild, houses and streets and stories and us.

CEPI was lucky. Our facility was not damaged, but many of our employees have been severely affected, like thousands around us. The past week, we have worked as quickly as possible to offer first aid measures, and we want to thank you all for your cooperation and patience while we develop more complex interventions. The outpouring of solidarity, here as elsewhere in our area, truly moved us. We want to live up to it.

Once again we thank you for all your thoughts. Partners and customers who are physically distant from us, but close in heart, have sent many messages of support and offers of help, and we want to share them with those who need it the most. Our thoughts go to our most affected collaborators, customers and suppliers, who are already proudly working to get back up, and to whom we always guarantee our support.

It is the darkest moment for Romagna. We ask ourselves: will it leave us with anything other than mud? We would like, in a year, a decade, to be able to say yes. To say: we have shown ourselves who we are. To say: we built everything anew, we did it like this, we want to teach you too. This is what we have learned.

It is hard to imagine, but maybe this is exactly what we mean when we talk about responsibility for the future.

We decided to believe that with everyone’s participation, we will repair our land. We promise to be there.
